Prof. Dr. Elizabeth Prommer
Prof. Dr. Elizabeth Prommer is the Rector of the University of Rostock since April 2023.
She studied European Cultures, Theatre and Philosophy in Los Angeles and Communication Studies, Politics, Social and Economic History in Munich, among other things, and completed her doctorate at the University of Leipzig in 1998. This was followed by academic positions in Potsdam, Berlin, Berkeley, New York, Hamburg and Vienna.
Since 2011, she has been a professor of communication and media studies at the University of Rostock and has been the director of the Institute for Media Research at the Faculty of Humanities since 2012. She has also been Dean of the Interdisciplinary Faculty since 2021.
Prof. Dr. Gerd Teschke
Prof. Dr. Gerd Teschke studied Mathematics and Business Administration at the University of Potsdam from 1993-1998. He completed his PhD and habilitation afterwards at the University of Bremen. From 2002 to 2003 he had a research grant at the Princeton University.
Since 2007 he is Professor for Mathematics, Applied Informatics and Geometry at the Hochschule Neubrandenburg. From 2010 to 2014 he was Dean of the department/faculty of Landscape Sciences and Geomatics at the Hochschule Neubrandenburg.
Subsequantly, he was Prorector for research, science transfer and international relations at the Hochschule Neubrandenburg.
Since 2017 he is the Rector of the Hochschule Neubrandenburg.
Prof. Dr. Katharina Riedel
Prof. Dr. Katharina Riedel is the Rector of the University of Greifswald since April 2021.
She graduated with a Doctorate at the Institute of Microbiology at the Technical University of Munich, did her postdoctoral research at the Technical University of Denmark in Lyngby and completed her habilitation on ‘Global gene regulation in gram-negative bacteria: proteomics to investigate quorum sensing-regulated and surface-induced phenotypes’.
Since 2011 she holds the chair of Microbiology at the University of Greifswald and also acted afterwards as Vice-Director and Managing Director of the Institute of Microbiology and as Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.
Prof. Dr. Bodo Wiegand-Hoffmeister
Prof. Dr. Bodo Wiegand-Hoffmeister is the Rector of the University of Applied Sciences Wismar since 2014.
He studied Law and Philosophy at the Ruhr University Bochum and completed his studies with his first and second State Law Examination in Düsseldorf and Schwerin. From 2000 to 2005 he was Professor of Constitutional and Administrative Law at the University of Applied Sciences in Wismar. Subsequently, he was Director at the College of Public Administration, Police and Law Enforcement (Direktor der Fachhochschule für öffentliche Verwaltung, Polizei und Rechtspflege des Landes Mecklenburg-Vorpommern) of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern until 2011.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Petra Maier
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Petra Maier studied Physical Technology at the University of Applied Sciences Wildau, Germany. She received her doctoral degree from Loughborough University, UK, in Materials Science in 2002. Afterwards she worked at the University of Applied Sciences Wildau, Germany, as a postdoctoral fellow on characterization by nanoindentaion. From 2004 to 2006 she joint as a research associate the Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht, Germany. At the Technical University Berlin, Germany, she specialized in corrosion-fatigue on magnesium. Since 2008 Petra Maier is a professor of Materials and Production Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences Stralsund, Germany – in the School of Mechanical Engineering. Her research activities focus on the understanding of mechanical and corrosion properties of Magnesium alloys. From 2016 to 2018 she held the position of Vice Rector for Research and Development and since 2018 she has been Rector of Stralsund University of Applied Sciences.
Mrs Bettina Martin
Bettina Martin has been the Minister of Education, Science and Culture of the State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern since May 2019. This Ministry is patron of SustainMV and supports this project financially.
